August 2025

This month's recap:

After dusting off my rigid heddle loom, I got it all warped up and ready to practice my skills on a set of Bumberet Inspired Tea Towels.

When I first decided to purchase a loom and learn to weave, every single step along the way felt painstakingly slow and laboured, weaving terminology felt foreign and intimidating. I would be visibly sweating from the stress of warping, worried about making mistakes, the thought that a little error or oversight would cause catastrophic failure and leave me with a tangled mess of string, and all my time and effort would be wasted, reducing me to tears. Of course, this actually never happened, and I think I've finally reached a point where weaving is relaxing and fun and alllllmost at a place where I can start to venture out on my own in patterns and textures.

This month, I finished knitting another pair of socks. These socks are Sweet Woodruff by This Handmade Life, the yarn I'm using is Peach by Color of My Fiber, I genuinely adore this yarn and colourway, it has fantastic stitch definition.

When I finished weaving and hemming my first set of towels, I warped up another pattern by The Rogue Weaver, called Let it Snow. I absolutely love Tammy's patterns, they are a way to learn a new skill on the loom, from the comfort of my home and in my own time, while also creating a gorgeous finished product. This time, I took on string heddles. Not nearly as scary as they seemed to me going in. I'm so excited!

I also knit up the cutest little embellishment, which is a pocket that can be sewn onto, well, anything really. This is the Knitted Pocket by Maxim Cyr.

That's it - Happy crafting! Nic ♥
