About

Hi, I’m Nic! A craft hobbyist & artist.

I set off to learn knitting as a child from my grandma however, the absolute obsession and addiction to knitting (knitting socks in particular) didn’t come until much later when I got serious and taught myself knitting as a way to cope with stress in university, and later the stress of work, family, and life in general.

My favourite knitting is sock knitting. I’ve knit socks for myself, as gifts for friends, as gifts for friends to give to their friends, for adults, for kids. Some plain vanilla stockinette, some fancy cables, a bit of lacework, a sprinkle of colourwork. Every available heel type I’ve come across has been implemented in one sock or another. Socks have been completed one at a time, two at a time, toe-up, toe-down. I’ve knit socks out of amazingly soft wool and super-scratchy but unholeable acrylic string (unholeable is totally a word). But I’ve also knit blankets, sweaters, shawls, stuffies, toques, and bags.

I’m a crafter and maker at heart, always eager to learn new skills and mediums. I have a spinning wheel, a weaving loom, and a sewing machine. I’ve crocheted, quilted, cross-stitched, wove, needle-felted, embroidered.

Aside from getting tangled in fibre, I am also a practicing rookie artist with an ever-growing portfolio of stained-glass mosaics, paintings, block prints, and illustrations. Oh, and I also love reading and perusing my local library.
